Well, I finally succumbed. In the past week I've not only watched, but also read Twilight.They were silly, stereotypically 'teen' - and yes, I am addicted.
I laughed through half of the movie, and whizzed through the book last night in a few short hours (and like a teen who stayed up *way* too late doing something silly, am paying for it this morning!).
After reading the book I was a little disappointed with the movie portrayal of Bella, specifically her constant stuttering and inability to speak properly.
And I am curious about the whole werewolf/vampire conflict. I've seen a few vampire movies in my day, and the only other time I've come across that is in the Underworld series. Is it borrowed from there? Or is it older than that?
But all in all I enjoyed both movie and book as some good brain candy (and is it wrong to agree that Edward is quite smoldery? He is a *few* years younger than me after all!). I'm currently #142 on the library wait list for book two, and I can't wait!
Update: Despite the Mr. laughing his butt off at me, I've gone ahead and ordered books 2 through 3. Who knows how long they would take from the library?! Hopefully I can resell them after reading and end up almost even!

p.s. I too am addicted to the Twilight series. Read all 4 books about 6 months ago, and in the process, ignored my husband, one year old, household duties, etc... but, ah, one word: EDWARD.
Just go and buy the entire series!!!!!!!!!!
Yes she was a bit mumbly, but I sort of imagined Bella to be like that. I see her as an awkward girl, but intelligent in her thoughts.
Welcome to the dark side! I've read the series and was disappointed in the movie,too, but that doesn't keep me from watching it over and over! I hope New Moon is better!
I read the books awhile back, and accompanied my friend and her 12 year old daughter and entourage to the premiere of the movie -- THAT was an experience! I don't line up for ANYTHING and here I was, standing in line at the Cineplex, with 100's of giggly teens.....
Now I'm completely into TRUEBLOOD -- a series on HBO --- it's "Twilight" for adults, and I have a new, more age appropriate crush on a vampire now!
